I’m a Silversmith!

As a jewelry designer, I’m constantly learning and growing. Discovering new techniques, learning from mistakes, exploring new mediums… It keeps me on my toes!

This year, I took the plunge into working with a demi-fine metal: Sterling Silver! I still love working with base metals like brass and copper, and now I get to offer my customers silver options too!

I have created a Mini Collection in Silver to kick off the Spring season - I hope you love it!!

Here I’m soldering the silver earring post onto the Willow Earring. The best part about making jewelry is getting to play with fire all day!

Once my silver pieces are finished, I stamp them with a teeny-tiny “925” stamp. This is how you can tell if something is made of sterling silver vs other silver colored metals. Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% silver (thus the 925 stamp) and 7.5% base metal - like copper. The copper provides strength and durability to the silver!

Sterling Silver is prone to tarnishing. When you’re not wearing your jewelry, keep it dry and in an airtight bag or jewelry box. Tarnishing happens when the metal has prolonged exposure to oxygen and/or moisture, however, you can slow tarnishing by wearing your jewelry often! So enjoy! And when it does tarnish, simply wipe it with a polishing cloth or use silver polish to restore the shine!
