Tools Of The Trade

This year I decided to tackle a new skill… soldering brass! After a few years of thinking about it, I finally just jumped in. Every time I sit down at my bench I learn something new - there is so much that goes into soldering!! I thought it might be fun to show you around my work space and share some of my favorite tools. Follow me into my studio…

My Soldering Torch

This is the star of the show - definitely my most fun tool to use!! There is something mesmerizing about watching the flame cause solder to flow.

My Dremel Tool

This little guy is a work horse!! I use it for sanding and polishing and some days I have it running for an hour or so at a time!!

Japanese Finger Guards

These things protect my fingers from grime but also give me a good grip when I’m polishing tiny earrings!

My Metal Pounding Block

This block is extra special to me because my brother gave it to me - it came from his buddy’s studio in Australia who happens to be one of the metal smiths who worked on Sauron’s armor for Lord of the Rings!!

My Branch Collective Logo Stamp

Every piece of metal jewelry (when it fits) is hand stamped with my logo! I love this finishing touch!

I have at least a hundred other tools, but I’ll show you those another day! It amazes me how much goes into making jewelry (or anything) by hand. It’s truly an art! And I love doing it!

Thanks for hanging out in my studio with me!!

Is there a hobby you have been thinking about trying your hand at?? I say “go for it!” I got some of my tools from Pepe Tools, a great online source for tools of your own! Follow my affiliate link below and get 10% off your order. Happy making!
